Feature & Follow Friday #2: Oldies but Goodies

Feature and Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read where bloggers gain followers and make new connections.   I prefer followers through Google Friend Connect (GFC) and Bloglovin’, but I'll take what I can get; hit me with your best shot.

This week's topic:
Recommend some of your favorite back-list books – books that are at least a few years old (I’m thinking 5-10 years old rather than classics)

I'm not even going to bother with Harry Potter, because that's a given, mmmk?

Eragon by Christopher Paolini  -- @Goodreads
I found this novel (and ultimately, the rest of The Inheritance Cycle) when searching specifically for something to help me out with my Harry Potter withdrawal.  And this was written by a 14 year old!

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella  -- @Goodreads
Literature masterpiece this is not, but hilarious it is.  Considerably better than the movie.

A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux -- @Goodreads
It doesn't -- it cannot -- get better than this when it comes to time travel/historical romances.  This has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager.

The Duke (and the rest of the books in the Knight Miscellany series) -- @Goodreads
Gaelen Foley is a master of the historical romance genre.  I'd read the phone book if she wrote it.

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen -- @Goodreads
For obvious reasons... elephant.
Never saw the movie... for obvious reasons.

  2. Hopping through. The Water for Elephants movie wasn't that bad. Not nearly as good as the book, but I liked it.

    1. I guess I'll have to suffer through Reese Witherspoon's pointy chin and give it a shot. ;)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Confessions of a Shopaholic is so fun. That and Remember Me are both on my favourite chick lit list! And while I might not have enjoyed the latter half of Eragon quite as much as the first half, the first half was AWESOME! Yay dragons! And magic!

  8. OMG Jackie!! Water for Elephants almost made my list but I already listed 4 books and I knew I couldn't go on forever (like I wanted too) LOL!!! I have the Eragon series on my bookshelf right now with even the movie DVD sitting on top of the books BUT......I haven't read the books yet :( I bought them about 2 years ago when I was at a used book store and saw Dragons and was instantly intrigued, had to buy them.
I know they're good, I've heard it from so many people. The crazy thing is that I was just looking at them the other day saying how I had to read them!!! Pretty cool

    1. Okay, first, take the Eragon DVD and burn it. Unless your kids like it. :) I absolutely adored the series, although a lot of people had mixed feelings about the end.

  10. Great suggestions! I've seen Confessions of a Shopaholic on a few booktubers channel and it looks like an adorable read. Considering how much of a fanatic I am when it comes to historical fiction, I think I'm going to have to check out The Duke. I've also been meaning to get around to Water for Elephants, but whenever I see it in the store, I walk the other way. I don't know why, but I just lost my interest in that book when I see it in a store. I must have to pick it up soon. I've also seen Eragon a lot in the library, but never picked up. Great suggestions!

Thank you for stopping by my blog!
